“I believe I shall see the LORD’s goodness in the land of the living.”
This was the response from the Psalms for today. And I believe it is such a timely reminder that the Lord’s goodness surrounds us everyday as we walk this earth.
It’s not just about seeing the good in all things. It’s not just about being optimistic. It is also about seeing God in everything. And we all know that God is Good, All The Time!
So next time something irritates you, something annoys you, or something felt so bad, just remind yourself that that is God’s goodness in the land of the living.
In my part of the world, here’s how we can see it:
1. In traffic jams – some people would complain that it could be caused by drivers who lacked discipline (using bus lanes or shoulders as overtaking lanes, etc…) But you can also see progress! Traffic jams can also be caused by construction of highways, or the increasing number of vehicles. People can now afford getting cars. God’s goodness is in the progress. 👌
2. Hot/dry weather – but to some who don’t live here, they call it tropical. Good for drying clothes, for making Tuyo or Daing na Isda (dried fish), and all those products, export quality products that require intense heat from the sun. God’s goodness is in the Heat that transforms.
3. Rainy weather – some would complain about floods, but tell that to the kids who enjoy dipping in them. Although, unlike during my time as a kid of the 80’s/90’s, flood water nowadays reeks of whatever disease caused by different excretions. But rains tend to plants, to farms that provide food. It fills dams with water good for months. And, should I say, rains provide bed weather, and inspiration for sulking and reflection, that some can turn to song. 🎶 God’s goodness is in the melancholy.
And there’s more. Definitely more.
God provides. God loves. God makes all things new. God is good, all the time, and everything about Him, and because of Him, is Good. 💕💕
